Car smashes into driveway pillar
A MAN was in hospital today after his car ploughed into a brick pillar on a Midland driveway.
He was knocked unconscious by the impact and was trapped inside the Volkswagen Golf for 30 minutes until fire crews cut the roof and doors off.
The man, said to be in his late teens or early 20s, was the only person inside the car when emergency teams arrived at the scene at Widney Manor Road, Solihull, just before 11.50pm last night.
He was removed from the car on a stretcher and taken to hospital. The crash damaged the driveway pillar, which supported an electric gate, and other vehicles parked on the drive.
