Man shot in the leg at city tower block

A MAN was shot in the leg in a Birmingham tower block, police said today.

The 42-year-old was discovered bleeding heavily in a seventh-floor hallway at Girton House, Kennet Grove, Castle Bromwich.

Paramedics and police were alerted at 6.10pm yesterday and rushed the victim to hospital, where he was today reported to be in "stable" condition.

Officers sealed off the area to carry out forensic examinations, and door-to-door inquiries were also taking place.

"The man was found with a gunshot wound to his right leg," said a West Midlands Police spokeswoman. "The injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

"We appeal for anyone with vital information on this attack to come forward and help us with inquiries."
