Dog saved from blaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a small dog trapped in a flamed-filled kitchen.

The spaniel became trapped when the grill pan in the oven caught fire at 1.45pm yesterday.

His owner, a woman in her 50s, was able to get out of the property, but the dog sat cowering in the corner of the kitchen in Addison Road, Billesley.

Crews from Bourn-brook station rescued the animal from the smoke logged terraced house, Station Officer Steve Thornton said.

No one was injured.
