Fuel leak causes bike slip

A MIDLAND motorcyclist was hurt after coming off his machine today due to a serious diesel spillage.

The accident happened just before 6am in Kingswinford Road, Dudley.

The man, in his 30s, is not thought to have been seriously hurt, but needed hospital treatment.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said the spill had affected a half-mile stretch of the road.

He added: "Quite a lot of diesel was on the road surface and it was very slippy underfoot.

"Obviously a vehicle must have a leaking fuel tank. Such spillages are dangerous for any motorist, but particularly bad for those on two wheels."

The affected area was coned-off and the Highways Agency contacted to lay down sand to absorb the diesel.
