Man faces judge over rail attacks

A MAN, 47, was appearing in court today accused of waging a 17-month campaign of vandalism against the Midland railway network.

Allan Nicol, an ex-rail worker from Yardley, is charged with criminal damage, arson and ten allegations of causing an obstruction on the railways.

Nicol, due to appear before a judge at Birmingham Crown Court this afternoon, has yet to enter a plea.

He was arrested in November last year after an inquiry into damage caused to rail infrastructure in the West Midlands, Warwickshire and Staffordshire.
