A DARING Birmingham man was feared dead today after a paragliding accident on Europes highest mountain.
Rescuers were searching desperately for Brian Simpson, who is thought to have crashed into a crevasse on Mont Blanc in the Alps.
They were alerted by his wife Sue, who works for Birmingham law firm Eversheds. She had been waiting at the bottom of the mountain for Brian to complete his flight.
Also missing is a French guide who was strapped to 40-year-old Mr Simpson for a tandem flight.
The pair disappeared four days ago, shortly after jumping from the mountain.
Rescue teams and aircrews have scoured the mountain to try to find the pair, but without success. Bad weather has repeatedly hampered their progress.
Today, as searchers were resuming their hunt for the men, colleagues of Mrs Simpson said they were 'devastated' by the news.
