Water leak investigation is launched

EXPERTS were today trying to confirm the source of a water leak which led to a flooding alert at a Birmingham photographic studio.

Worried owners of the Victoria Studio in Washwood Heath Road, Sheldon, called the fire service at 7pm yesterday after finding the basement flooded with 12 inches of water which was still rising.

Firefighters called in experts from Severn Trent who launched a pumping operation and an investigation.

Sheldon firefighters spent more than three hours at the scene and Station Officer Paul Dixon said: "When we arrived at the basement the water was rising, with the main electrical supply just 2ft above it. We had to isolate the supply and call in Severn Trent.

"There was a hole in the wall between two bricks and the water was coming through like a spring.

"Severn Trent were not sure what was causing the leak. They were doing tests to see if the water was fresh or foul."
