Man bailed over shooting

A 50-year-old man has been released on police bail after he was arrested in connection with a shooting outside a £1 million home.

The man, from Wolverhampton, was detained on Wednesday evening on suspicion of possessing a firearm and causing criminal damage.

The arrest followed an incident in which three cars parked outside a substantial detached property in Little Aston, near Sutton Coldfield, were raked with gunfire. The family who live at the house in Roman Road were later moved by police to a safe location.

Staffordshire Police spokesman said the man was taken to Cannock police station for questioning about the incident, which happened at 11.50pm on Tuesday, and later released. Inquiries were continuing.
