Murder hunt after man dies at club

POLICE have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a 22-year-old man attacked outside a nightclub.

Police and paramedics were called to JB's club in Castle Hill, Dudley at around 2.50am on Saturday after reports of a man found collapsed.

The victim, who has not been named, was unconscious with severe head injuries and was taken to Russell's Hall Hospital, Dudley.

The man, from Wolverhampton, was later transferred to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he died at 12.45pm yesterday.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said that the man was among over 200 people who had been in the club attending an Elvis Presley tribute night.

Police appealed for information from anyone who was at the tribute night or who may have been in the area of the club between 2.30 and 3am on Saturday.

The identity of the victim is not being released until relatives have been informed and a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out today.
