Have a say over plans

RESIDENTS who feel powerless when it comes to their applications for planning permission have the power to speak out, thanks to a new scheme.

For the first time, applicants are being given the chance to address Bromsgrove District Council's planning committee.

Running for a four-month trial, the council is allocating a "speakers spot" to its planning committee meetings agenda, allowing members of the public the opportunity to air their views.

Only one person will be allowed to speak in favour of an application and one against.

Anyone who wants to speak at a meeting must submit their comments in writing to the planning officer dealing with the application by noon on the Thursday before the meeting.

Registration can be done by phone on 01527 881 410 or by e-mail to publicspeaking@bromsgrove.gov.uk.
