A-bout time!

IT'S wacky and full of showmanship but there's nothing vicious about these up and coming wrestling stars.

For Danny Delgado, also known as Desirable Danny D, is helping to put the theatre back into the world of good old fashioned wrestling.

Along with partner Stew Smith, 23-year-old Danny, from Handsworth, wants to recreate traditional wrestling spectaculars that were once such popular events in Birmingham.

The next wrestling bout will be tonight at the Irish Club, in Digbeth, which is being billed as a family friendly event.

"Wrestling is pure theatre. It is a show," said Danny, who has launched his own wrestling training school in Handsworth and has found numbers growing by the week.

"We've had people of all ages who want to take it up, and women too are showing an interest. It's become a hobby with a difference for some people."

Danny has also launched his own website called Anti Watershed Wrestling to get more people involved.

The show at the Irish Club starts tonight at 7pm. Tickets are £5. Another show will be staged on Thursday, October 12.
