Lovebirds wok down the aisle!

Tim and Kelly Davies

A BRIDE and groom shunned convention for a nuptials with noodles!

Determined to tie the knot in their own special way, Kelly and Tim Davies snubbed the traditional hotel reception in favour of lunch for six at Wagamama noodle bar and champagne at Selfridges.

So, after a civil service in their home town of Malvern, the pair hopped in a limousine and mingled with Saturday afternoon shoppers in the Bullring.

Kelly and Tim were joined for lunch by just their bridesmaid, best man and two witnesses.

They did not even tell their families until after they were married.

"We wanted to do it our way," said 31-year-old Kelly, a Malvern Hills District Council customer service adviser. "It was completely and utterly selfish but we did everything we wanted to.

"I wore a traditional dress and all the shoppers were looking at us. They told me my dress looked lovely and congratulated us.

"Wagamama doesn't normally do table reservations but they allowed us to book a table when I explained it was for our wedding day and I would be in my dress."

Kelly and Tim, a 29-year-old quantity surveyor, have been together for five years and have a four-month-old son, Lucas. Their big day was three months in the planning.

They were accompanied by bridesmaid Sara Bowcutt, best man Matthew Waugh and witnesses Justin Harris and Jenny Tough.

But their relatives were in the dark until the couple broke the news at a party at their home on the wedding night. Kelly and Tim then went on honeymoon to Paris.

Wagamama kitchen manager Paranjothi Sanjeev said restaurant staff were surprised but delighted to help the couple celebrate.

"It was very unusual but they had a good time," he said.

"We have never had anything like it before. We don't normally take bookings but this was a special occasion and we said we would do it just this once. We couldn't let down a bride on her wedding day."
