Rush for Barrymore show tickets

Michael Barrymore

TICKETS are selling fast for Michael Barrymore's appearance in the musical Scrooge next month at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre.

But today the theatre would not be drawn on plans by Terry Lubbock, whose son was mysteriously found dead at Barrymore's Essex mansion five years ago, to attend the show.

The Birmingham Mail revealed on Friday that 61-year-old Terry was determined to sabotage the entertainer's attempts to resurrect his career.

Iain Watkins, marketing manager at the theatre, said that thousands of tickets had been sold for the show, which begins a week-long run on November 14.

"Tickets are selling very well and we are all looking forward to seeing Michael Barrymore on stage again," he said.

"But we cannot comment on any individuals planning to attend the show."

Terry said on Friday that he was determined to find the truth about what happened to his son Stuart, aged 31.

Stuart had attended a party at Barrymore's home near Harlow in Essex. Post-mortem examinations found large amounts of cocaine and alcohol in his body and it appeared he had also been subjected to a serious sexual assault.

But an inquest recorded an open verdict, no cause of death was established and no-one has ever been charged in connection with the death.
