Household recycling scheme is expanded

MORE residents can do their bit to help save the environment, thanks to an expanded recycling scheme.

Boxes are being delivered to another 21 per cent of homes in Wychavon, which householders can use to recycle glass jars and bottles.

The expansion will mean 94 per cent of homes in the area have a glass recycling facility.

A Wychavon District Council spokeswoman said: "We are pleased to offer the recycling service to more residents.

"Glass is 100 per cent recyclable and, rather than put it in black sacks which go to landfill and can cause injuries to the refuse collectors, it can be recycled and put to good use again."

Residents have been urged to tie up rubbish sacks to stop litter escaping and to place them at the front of their homes by 7am on the day of collection.
