Brum signs pact of Chinese friendship
BIRMINGHAM has been formally twinned with the Chinese city of Guangzhou.
The agreement was signed by Council Leader Mike Whitby (Con, Harborne) and Zhang Guangning, Mayor of Guangzhou, at a VIP dinner last night.
The city and province is home to 10 million people and is at the heart of China's manufacturing industry.
Other cities twinned with Birmingham include Chicago in the USA, Frankfurt and Leipzig in Germany, Johannesburg in South Africa, Lyon in France and Milan in Italy.
