Sacked head is re-instated

Kevin McCabe

THE headteacher of a Birmingham primary school has returned to work more than two weeks after he was suspended for alleged gross misconduct.

Kevin McCabe was allowed to return to his job at Adderley Primary, in Arden Road, Saltley, yesterday7th following an investigation carried out by officers from Birmingham City Council.

The head was suspended from his post with effect from November 28.

The action, which was endorsed by the full governing body, was immediately followed by the school's enforced closure when 16 teachers reported sick the next day.

Mr McCabe had only joined Adderley Primary in September last year, and succeeded in helping to take the school out of "special measures" within six months.

The dispute is believed to have been triggered by the previous sacking of a female teacher at the school by McCabe, which was then investigated by the chairman of governors.
