Policewoman's killer fled wearing veil

PC Sharon Beshenivsky

A MAN suspected of murdering policewoman Sharon Beshenivsky may have fled the country dressed as a woman in a Muslim veil.

Britain's border controls were today condemned as "non-existent" after the claim that Mustaf Jamma used his sister's passport and wore a full niqab to evade checks at Heathrow.

Shadow Home Secretary David Davis has demanded an urgent inquiry.

Yusuf Abdillh Jamma, 20, of Small Heath, Birmingham -Mustaf Jamma's brother - was convicted of the officer's murder earlier this week and Muzzaker Imtiaz Shah earlier admitted the charge at Newcastle Crown Court.

At the time of 26-year-old Mustaf Jamma's escape between Christmas Day last year and New Year's Day, he was one of the UK's most wanted men and the airport was on high alert.

A British Airways Authority spokesman said: "Immigration control staff always do a visual check on people coming into the country, but only random checks are made with outgoing passengers."

PC Beshenivsky was shot as she arrived at a robbery in Bradford city centre.

Yusuf Jamma and Shah will be sentenced on Friday along with Faisal Razzaq and his brother Hassan, who were convicted of manslaughter.
