Tell us where the boys are
POLICE today used the tenth anniversary of the mysterious disappearance of two Midland schoolboys to issue a blunt appeal to those who know of their fate.
"Think of the families' pain and do the right thing," said Detective Chief Superintendent Gordon Fraser.
David Spencer and Patrick Warren have not been seen since Boxing Day 1996 when they vanished from Chelmsley Wood, near Birmingham.
Instead of being a time of joy, Christmas has been tinged with anguish for the two lads' heartbroken families.
And while they have never given up hope their sons would one day return home, detectives think the pals are dead and believe just a handful of people could hold the key to finding them.
"I'd ask them to reflect on their last ten Christmases and then think of what the boys' families have been through in that time," said DCS Fraser.
"Every day they suffer but this is a obviously painful time of the year for them.
"What right-minded person would not think about that and give us the information we need? Their families need to be allowed to grieve and lay the boys to rest."
DCS Fraser, who is heading the investigation, added: "I'm confident the person is a Brummie or someone who lived in the area at the time.
"I don't care what their interests or sexual orientations are. I'm not judging people, all I want to do is establish what happened to the two boys and bring some closure to their families.
