Schoolboy knocked down by taxi

A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy was taken to hospital after being knocked down by a taxi in Redditch.

Ambulance crews were called to the scene outside a Woodfield Middle School, in Studley Road, at 3.23pm on Tuesday.

The youngster, from Redditch, was in collision with a Transit Van-type taxi.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The exact details of what happened are not clear.

"The lad was conscious and breathing but had a cut above his left eyebrow.

"As a precaution the crews immobilised him using a neck collar and spinal board before taking him to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch for further assessment.

"Despite the situation he was remarkably cheerful."
