Hunt for cash depot raid vehicles

DETECTIVES have issued details of two skip lorries stolen by the gang responsible for a raid on a NatWest cash processing centre in Tamworth last week.

The vehicles were taken from Rotton Park Street in Ladywood, Birmingham, at about 10.15pm last Thursday and are then believed to have been driven out of the city along the Aston Expressway and the A38 north.

The lorry used in the raid, which happened an hour later, had the registration number T486 EWR.

The cab of the yellow MAN truck was marked with the words "Skip Hire" in black and red.

Its skip, which was dumped in Hints Lane before the raid, was also yellow, stencilled on the sides with the words "1st Choice Waste" in black.

The other lorry, which was not used in the raid, was found at Canwell. It was a Volvo with the registration number L667 GBW.

Officers believe the two lorries may have been driving in convoy, possibly accompanied by cars.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Garrett, who is leading the investigation, said: "The skip lorries are very distinctive vehicles and I'm sure that someone must have seen them as they headed from Birmingham to Tamworth.

"It is vital that they contact us."
