Drunk yob attacked woman PC

A DRUNKEN yob who attacked a policewoman after being marched from a train has avoided jail, police revealed today.

PC Natalie Talbot was left with a neck injury as she tried to restrain David Anthony Conlon at Birmingham's New Street Station last September.

The 46-year-old had been dragged off the train by the British Transport Police officer following complaints from rail staff that he had become abusive.

Conlon, of Winchester Avenue, Bentilee, Staffordshire, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting police officers at New Street train station, Birmingham, on September 15, 2006.

He received a four month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, for the assault on PC Talbot and a 12 month community order for assault on Sgt Andrew Jones.

He was also ordered to pay £250 compensation to both officers when he appeared at Birmingham magistrates for sentencing.
