Pensioner stabbed in his home

AN 80-year-old man was in a critical condition today after being found stabbed at an address in Walsall.

Police are appealing for information after he was discovered with a stab wound to the neck.

He was found injured at an address in St Ives Road, Walsall, yesterday shortly before 9am and was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "The man's son had flagged down a passing police car after he could not get into the address or contact his father.

"It is believed the man may have been attacked in his home up to two days ago."

Scenes of crimes officers have carried out examinations at the address and officers have conducted house-to-house enquiries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have any information or seen anyone in the area acting suspiciously to contact them at Walsall CID on 0845 113 5000, or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. There is no known motive for the incident.
