Passengers hold key to college stab probe

BUS passengers could hold the key to identifying a knifeman who stabbed a teenager in Birmingham city centre and left him fighting for life.
The un-named 16-year-old was knifed as he stood at a bus-stop in Jennens Road shortly before 3pm on Monday.
Unconfirmed reports suggested that a car screeched to a halt at stop, close to Matthew Boulton College, and a man jumped to attack the youth.
Police said the youngster remained in a critical condition in hospital.
A 19-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident was today still being held by police and helping with inquiries.
A force spokesman said officers wanted to hear from anyone waiting at bus stops around the area at the time.
"People stood at the bus-stops around Jennens Road who may have seen something are asked to contact detectives at Steelhouse Lane," she added.
The incident forced the closure of a number of roads in the area as police carried out a search of the area.
College principal Christine Braddock said: "The incident was between members of the public who were not students or linked to the college in any way. Our thoughts go out to the victim and his family."
