Murder probe after body is discovered

MURDER squad police were today continuing to question three people after the discovery of a pensioner's body at a Midland house.

David Rabley, aged 81, was found dead at his end-terrace home in Mill Street, Brierley Hill, at about 6pm on Wednesday.

Two men and a woman were arrested and were still being interviewed by police today.

Mr Rabley was described by neighbours as a quiet old man who kept himself to himself.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Daphne Lewis said Mr Rabley was already dead when paramedics arrived at the scene.

Police forensic officers sealed off the house and a private drive leading to the back of the property as they carried out a detailed search of the area, close to St Mary's RC Primary School.

A West Midlands Police spokesman confirmed the death was being treated as murder and the pensioner had not been killed during a bungled burglary attempt.
