Action Men go under the hammer

Auctioneer Kevin Jackson with some of the Action Men for sale.

FOR sale - 100 Action Men, including soldiers, guardsmen and deep-sea divers, complete with all the usual accessories.

It's the sale of a lifetime at Birmingham-based Fellows and Sons, thanks to a highly unusual auction being held tomorrow.

The Jewellery Quarter based company is selling the Action Men as part of a special toy auction for young at heart buyers seeking to relive their childhoods.

Also up for sale are Dinky toys and teddy bears but sale organisers believe the Action Men will be the stars of tomorrow's show.

Fellows and Sons toy specialist Kevin Jackson said: "There are about 100 figures in total and they range in age from the 60s to the late 70s and early 80s.

"They have been estimated at between £30 and £50 a lot and there are about 40 lots, so we are expecting a lot of interest.

"It's a big collection - there are soldiers, guardsmen, deep-sea divers, with uniforms and other accessories."

Mr Jackson said the collection had been provided by an unnamed woman from Halesowen, whose sons had been keen collectors in their younger days.

The collection, which dates back to 1964, even incorporates some of the Action Men's sworn enemies, including the fearsome Intruder.

The auction starts at 10.30am.
