Spurned lover jailed for threat to ex's new boyfriend

A DUDLEY man became "obsessional" about his ex-partner kidnapped and threatened to kill her new young boyfriend, a judge said.

Nigel Jones, 50, pointed a loaded shotgun at the head of 26-year-old Adrian Wilde and said he would die unless he went away and never came back.

Mr Justice Griffith-Williams told Jones it was an extremely serious case because it involved a real shotgun and ammunition. He had to impose an indeterminate prison sentence to protect his former partner and Mr Wilde from future harm.

He said Jones became obsessed by the thought she had developed a relationship with a new man, and ruled he must serve three and a half years before he can be considered for parole.

Jones, of Poole Crescent, Coseley, had denied kidnapping Mr Wilde, possessing an firearm and stealing a mobile belonging to his victim but he was convicted by a jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Michael Garrett, prosecuting, said Jones, armed with the shotgun, yanked open the door of Mr Wilde's car as he was parked outside the home of his ex-partner.

Mr Wilde was then ordered out of the vehicle and taken, at gunpoint, to another vehicle where he was told: "Stay away from this house and never come round again or I'll kill you."
