A BRUMMIE pop legend has helped drum up thousands of pounds for city children suffering from serious burns.

Bev Beva, former Electric Light Orchestra and The Move drummer, joined forces with Birmingham nightclub Oceana, in Hurst Street, and music venue the Jam House, in St Paul's Square, to raise £5,000.

The cash was donated to help fund a new £14.8 million burns unit being built at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The hospital, in Steelhouse Lane, has been selected to provide one of just five paediatric burns centres across England and Wales and will also have the largest burns centre for children in Europe.
