Simply vote for your favourite local corner shop to thank them for always being there for that last minute item as they're usually open seven days a week, keep long hours, and there's always a familiar face behind the counter!

Votes have flooded in and your local shop has to be nominated for a chance to win. These awards are a way of finding the best corner shop in your area - and nationally - which offers the most amenities and goes beyond the call of duty when it comes to serving their customers and local community.

Sarah Jayne Dunn, well known soap star Mandy Hutchinson from Channel 4's Hollyoaks, co-owner of 'Drive 'n' Buy' is leading PayPoint's first ever nationwide search for the UK's favourite corner shop, to celebrate the important role these shops play in their local communities.

Each nominated shop will be judged on a number of criteria including products and services, opening hours and customer service. The search will identify ten regional finalists with one being picked as an overall winner and be awarded the '2007 PayPoint Corner Shop of the Year' at the end of April.

Sarah Jayne Dunn commented: "You only have this week left to pledge support for your favourite local corner shop. Don't forget to vote!" The search is on, so don't forget to vote for your favourite and most deserving corner shop!
