Police follow sightings of murdered woman's husband

Murder suspect Jim Ingram.

STAFFORDSHIRE detectives are following up reported sightings of a man who is wanted in connection with the murder of his estranged wife.

An appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme prompted several calls to officers hunting for 62-year-old Jim Ingram.

A police spokesman said the calls included a number of possible sightings of Ingram in various parts of the country, which are now being investigated by Staffordshire's major investigation department.

Diane Ingram was found dead in her ground-floor flat in Avon Road, Cannock, on March 13. She had been stabbed in the neck.

The 61-year-old's husband, who does not have a driving licence, was last seen on a bus in Walsall Road, at about 3.20pm on the day she died.

The bus, believed to be the 870, was a single-decker travelling towards Wolverhampton.
