Warning after deer carcasses found dumped

POLICE in the Midlands have urged the public to be wary when buying venison after two deer carcasses were found dumped in Coughton.

The deer, which had been butchered to remove saddle and haunch meat, were found in woodland on a track between Coughton Fields Lane and Spernall Lane at Coughton, near Redditch.

PC Sue Neville, who is investigating the find, said: "There are health implications if this meat has been bought so I would like to hear from anyone who knows of venison being offered for sale."

One of the deer had been shot and police are also appealing for information about anyone who is known to own a gun and go out shooting.

"This is not the first time this has occurred at this location and I would urge anyone with information to come forward so that we can prevent further incidents," PC Neville added.
