Biker seriously injured in smash

A BIRMINGHAM motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after he ploughed into a wall when he was forced off the road by a car.

The 46-year-old man, from Northfield, was today said to be in a stable condition after losing control of his blue Yamaha motorcycle near Alvechurch.

Police say the biker was forced off the road by a car which was travelling on the wrong side of the road on a bend in Bell Green Lane between Headley Heath towards Lea End.

The car did not strike the motorcyclist but failed to stop, leaving other drivers to attend to him at the scene at 8.20am on Sunday.

The motorcyclist was taken by air ambulance to Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital with serious back and chest injuries.

Police would like to speak to the driver of the car or any other witnesses on 08457 444888.
