Pensioner dies after accident with bus

POLICE are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Walsall in which a pensioner collided with a bus.

The accident happened in Rose Hill, Willenhall, just before 11.20am yesterday outside the derelict Waterglade public house.

The collision was between a Travel West Midlands single decker bus and an 87-year-old female pedestrian who was believed to be in the road at the time.

The woman, who was from Willenhall, sustained serious head injuries and was taken to New Cross hospital where she died a short time later. She is not being identified at this stage.

Officers are appealing to passengers on the number 525 bus travelling to Willenhall town centre to contact them with information and anyone who was in the area at the time.

A female passenger in her 40s on the bus sustained minor injuries, she was taken to hospital and released a short time later.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the road policing unit at Bloxwich police station on 0845 113 5000.
