THE Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips joined the elite of the horse riding world at a prestigious show jumping event being staged in Birmingham.
The live British Open Show Jumping Championships, which are taking place at the NEC until SundayApril 15, will see the most action-packed programme of equestrian competition and entertainment ever seen at an indoor show.
It has been given a royal seal of approval with the daughter of the Princess Royal joining the crop of world class competitors.
Yesterday, Zara took part in the indoor cross country competition, which saw the BBC Sports Personality of the Year facing a course of 18 fences against the clock.
The four-day championships are at the NEC after four years at Sheffield's Hallam FM Arena. The programme includes show jumping, polo, scurry racing, dressage and equestrian vaulting.
