Paw Toby in new home plea
MEET Toby, Birmingham's unluckiest dog.
After years of being mistreated, the doberman finally found a foster home only to fall sick and require over a £1,000 worth of veterinary treatment.
Now staff at charity The Animal House are hoping to get him re-housed and raise the cash to pay his vets bills.
The four-year-old dog was donated to the Bartley Green charity after his owners moved abroad.
They said he had been neglected and was underweight. After wolfing down a piece of roast beef, it became stuck in his stomach causing a condition called bloat.
Volunteers at The Animal House are now planning to stage a series of fundraising events to pay for the £1,300 treatment he received.
Linda Reeves, manager of the charity, said she hoped Toby would have a change of luck and find a new owner.
"He's a great dog, just a little bit expensive at the moment," he said. "He's a lovely dog but if there's any trouble to get into, then he'll get into it.
"He was bought as a guard dog but he's the soppiest dog I've ever seen. He's a great family pet, he's good with kids and other dogs, we just need to find somebody brave enough to take him on."
