Business community on the run for charity

The runners warm-up at the start of the Brindleyplace relay.

BUSINESSMEN and women threw off their suits and donned fancy dress for a special race to raise cash for a good cause.

Hundreds of people took part in the British Heart Foundation fun relay race around Brindleyplace after a hard day at work.

More than 40 teams consisting of four runners each dressed up as Thomas the Tank Engine team, cuddly teddies, Tarzans, rag dolls and other characters for the occasion.

Some of the companies taking part included HSBC, Mercer, GVA Grimley, First Active, Maverick TV, and the Birmingham Post and Mail.

Instructors from the Bannatyne Health Club led the teams through a short warm up at 5.45pm, before they were cheered a long the 1,600 meter race by Heart FM DJ Charlie Jordan.

GVA Grimley won the coveted fastest Brindleyplace Relay trophy, four free passes to Bannatyne's Health Gym and, champagne and dinner for four at the Bank restaurant, for completing the relay just under five minutes.
