Simon gives radio station appeal a run for its money

Simon Webbe

LOCAL boy Simon Webbe popped into Birmingham's 100.7 Heart fm to support the radio station's annual Run For Home.

The event is in its 11th year and the station is calling for listeners to take part on Sunday, July 22.

Teams of four will be taken to a mystery location up to 100 miles away. They have to make their way back to Warwickshire County Cricket Club, in Edgbaston, without spending any money.

Former Blue pop star Simon wanted to lend his encouragement towards the popular event and urged listeners to get involved: "This sounds like a great day and for very worthy causes, so sign up now!"

Since its launch in 1997, Run for Home has raised £1,116,850 for local charities through the radio station's First Steps Appeal.

It was set up to help charities supporting babies, toddlers and new parents in the West Midlands.

Many causes have benefited, including Birmingham Children's Hospital which has received more than £150, 000.

For details on how to enter Run For Home email runforhome@heartfm.co.uk; charities eligible to receive some of the proceeds can get an application form from helena.taylor@chrysalis.com
