Man died in car crash

A MIDLAND man who had just got his driving licence reinstated was killed after losing control of his car.

Paul Harper died instantly when his Citroen Saxo careered off a lamppost into a garden wall in Walsall Wood Road, Aldridge.

The 23-year-old foundry worker was thrown from the car in the crash at 1am on Sunday.

Blues fan Paul, from Rutland Crescent, Aldridge, a former pupil at Shire Oak Secondary School, lost his licence after an accident in October last year. But his grieving family said he had just won it back earlier this month.

Timothy Constable, Paul's father, said the death was "a terrible waste" of a life.

Police are investigating the accident between the junctions of Lazy Hill Road and Stonnall Road.
