Man admits attempted murder of wheelchair-user

THE jury in the case of three men accused of attempting to murder a disabled man in Staffordshire has been discharged after one of the defendants changed his plea.

Gavin Brown, 22, had denied an attack which left wheelchair-user Craig Robins in a coma, but later admitted a charge of attempted murder at Birmingham Crown Court.

Mr Robins, 28, was stabbed in the face and neck as he sat in his car in Hednesford on October 30 last year, and remains in a coma six months on from the assault.

Kyle Smith, 19, of Rowley Close, Hednesford, and James Milligan, 26, of Moss Road, Cannock, both deny charges of attempted murder, violent disorder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of violent disorder.

Brown, of Hillside Close, Hednesford, was remanded in custody along with Milligan.

The 16-year-old and Smith have been granted bail.
