Man charged with shooting at police

A MAN has been charged with the attempted murder of two Birmingham police officers who were shot at in a city street.

West Midlands Police said the 21-year-old from Ladywood was due before city magistrates accused of trying to kill the officers.

Shots were fired as the two unarmed officers grappled with two men spotted "acting suspiciously" in Kilby Avenue, Ladywood, at 9.30am on Tuesday.

One man was arrested at the scene but the second man managed to escape.

The man is also charged with armed robbery at the Raven pub, in Hodge Hill, on the same day, two counts of possessing a firearm, possession of a firearm with intent to resist arrest and possession of CS gas.
