Biker suffers serious head injuries in crash

A MOTORCYCLIST suffered critical injuries after he hit a roundabout crash barrier.

The accident happened at junction three of the M6 Toll where it meets the A38 Sutton Coldfield bypass at Langley Mill at about 8.30pm yesterday.

The man, who suffered severe head injuries, was believed to be heading for the Bassetts Pole island, near Sutton Coldfield, where motorcyclists gather on Tuesday evenings.

West Midlands Ambulance Service responded to the accident by sending an ambulance, a paramedic officer and a rapid response vehicle to the scene. A spokesman said: "The rider was travelling in the direction of Bassetts Pole when the accident happened, resulting in the bike ending up on the roundabout.

"The man suffered a severe head injury, a broken arm and a number of other injuries, and was semi-conscious.

"Crews did their best to stabilise his condition. He was given fluids and was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board."

The motorcyclist, aged is in his 20s or 30s, was taken to Good Hope Hospital.

Warwickshire Police are investigating.
