Police net huge drug haul

POLICE recovered a massive haul of drugs in a dramatic swoop on a car in a Midland town centre.

The 25 kilos of drugs were discovered after officers swarmed around the vehicle as it pulled over in West Bromwich High Street at 11.30 last night.

Two Birmingham men were arrested at the scene and were being held today.

It is understood the powder was found in bags in the boot of the car.

The substance was today being analysed by forensics experts in a bid to determine what type of drug it was.

It is thought it could be worth up to £50,000 on the streets.

The operation was part of an investigation by the Birmingham-based Proactive Crime Unit, set up to smash organised drugs gangs.

In the past four months the team has seized more than £20 million worth of drugs, including cocaine and cannabis. In February, police recovered millions of pounds worth of cocaine in Dudley.
