Boy fights for life after bike crash

A YOUNGSTER was today fighting for his life after a collision with a car while riding his bike.

The accident happened in Tividale Street, Tipton, at about 8.30pm on Saturday.

An ambulance was on scene first and was backed up by the Care Team Doctor and the County Air Ambulance from Cosford.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The boy, who is believed to be eight, suffered a potentially very serious head injury.

"There was significant damage to the front of the car. The doctor on the aircraft anaesthetised the youngster and he was given help with his breathing. He was then airlifted to the Birmingham Children's Hospital."
