Fraudster to repay money

A BANKRUPT Cannock businessman who benefitted by nearly £80,000 from criminal activity has agreed to repay £18,000 - over the next four years.

Mark McKenzie, 42, of Foxfields Way, Huntington, made the offer during a proceeds of crime hearing at Stafford Crown Court.

Judge Simon Tonking told McKenzie, whose assets totalled £18,000, that he must repay the money at the rate of £500 a month starting in November or face imprisonment.

In January this year McKenzie was jailed for nine months after he admitted acting as a company director while an undischarged bankrupt, acquiring criminal property and money laundering £4,700 from the sale of a photocopier.

He also admitted entering into a money laundering agreement by making a fraudulent application for credit and false accounting.
