Airport named best in Europe

Birmingham International Airport

BIRMINGHAM International Airport has been named best airport in Europe.

The airport scooped the prize in the 5-10 million passengers category at the Airports Council International's (ACI) annual conference.

Judges were particularly impressed by Birmingham's links to the local community.

Joe Kelly, the airport's acting managing director, said: "This is a fantastic achievement as it recognises the investments that we have made to position Birmingham Airport at the same level as leading European airports."

The ACI is a global association of airports.
