Council chief in hospital

ONE of Birmingham's top councillors is seriously ill in hospital, it was revealed today.

Cabinet regeneration chief Coun Ken Hardeman was admitted to City Hospital earlier this week with a chest infection.

The 72-year-old, who was first elected to the council in 1966. currently represents Brandwood Ward.

He has been leading a campaign to regenerate a large slice of the run-down inner city by building a City of Birmingham stadium and a sports village on the Wheels site.
