Appeal over race attack

A CAR window was smashed in an alleged racially motivated attack in Redditch.

Police are investigating the incident of criminal damage, which happened earlier this month, and have appealed for more witnesses to come forward, having already spoken to some people who were in the area.

And police have confirmed that the incident is being treated as racially aggravated as the car owner was allegedly subjected to racist abuse prior to his vehicle being smashed.

The incident happened at around 6.15pm on Sunday when a white male allegedly shouted racial abuse at the victim, a man of Eastern European origin, as he returned to his car parked at the Trafford Park Industrial Estate in Redditch.

Police say that as the man drove from the car park and into Ipsley Street, a rock was thrown at his car, smashing the back window.

A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Call Redditch police on 08457 444 888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
