Father's tribute to motorbike tragedy boy

The nature reserve where Kane Small died in a motorbike crash

THE father of a six-year-old boy killed while riding a mini motorbike in Bloxwich has paid tribute to his son.

Kane Small died after the mini moto he was riding in a nature reserve crashed into a tree at around 6pm on Sunday.

His father, Christopher Boffin, spoke of his fun-loving nature, and added: "He was a well-loved child, not just by his family but by all those who knew him."

Kane was flown by air ambulance from the scene of the incident, near the Arrowcraft Marina in Bloxwich, to Birmingham Children's Hospital, where he died.

Andrew Bailey, head of Elmore Green Primary School, where Kane was a pupil, said: "The whole school is shocked by the news of Kane's death. We are devastated that a young life has been so tragically cut short.

"Kane was a friendly lad with a disarming smile that will be long remembered by those of us who have taught him. Our thoughts and feelings go out to his parents and family at this time."

The school's summer fete on Saturday will be dedicated to Kane's memory.

West Midlands Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the youngster's death, and urged any witnesses to contact Bloxwich police station on 0845 113 5000.
