Driver destroyed garage in parents' car

A DRIVER who took his parents' car without consent wrote it off when he lost control and demolished a garage, a court heard.

Richard Hale, 28, of Bridgewater Close, Walsall Wood, took the car to go to work but was forced off the road by another driver who had not been traced by police, said Mark Rees, prosecuting.

He told Wolverhampton Crown Court the two vehicles moved away from traffic lights side by side but, as the road narrowed, the second car deliberately made a manoeuvre towards Hale.

Hale admitted aggravated vehicle taking and was banned from driving for a year. He was also ordered to pay £409 costs, plus £250 compensation to the owners of the garage.
