Inmate flees open prison

A CONVICTED robber from Birmingham has gone on the run from a controversial open prison in the Midlands.

Brian Alan Clayton, 43, whose last known address was Chelmsley Wood, absconded from Sudbury Open Prison, in Derbyshire, on Monday.

He was part-way through a five-year sentence for robbery handed down at Birmingham Crown Court, in May, 2005.

Clayton is white, 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build, with short, brown, greasy hair, green eyes and has a Birmingham accent. He has several tattoos.

Eleven inmates went missing in June from the prison and 78 escaped in 2006.
