Man stabbed outside hospital

POLICE today appealed for witnesses after a man was left suffering serious injuries when he was stabbed outside a Midland hospital.

Officers at West Mercia Police were called to the Minor Injuries Unit at Kidderminster Hospital at around 8pm on Sunday, after reports a 55-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck and stomach.

Officers are linking the stabbing to a brawl at the Sportsman pub, in Park Street, Kidderminster, that broke out earlier the same evening at about 6.55pm.

The stabbing victim, who has not been named and is believed to be from Kidderminster, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital's Accident & Emergency department and has since been described as being in a stable condition.

A second man also received head injuries during the incident outside the hospital.

A man and a woman, both in their 40s, have been arrested and are currently in custody, said a police spokesman.

"Despite the arrests, our investigations are on-going and we are anxious to talk to anyone who witnessed either the incident at the pub or the hospital."

Anyone with information can call police on 08457 444 888 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
